The CREDIT center is in the process of organizing the first edition of Mission-Critical Big Data Analytics workshop (MCBDA 2016). This workshop is going to take place on May 16-17, 2016 at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), Prairie View, TX, USA. This two-day workshop will cover the state-of-the-art research and development in big data analytics, especially for mission-critical applications. There will be keynote speeches by renowned speakers, and hands-on tutorial sessions. Cutting-edge Big Data research will be presented and student poster and demos session will also be held. This workshop is sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense Research and Engineering.
One of the graduate students in the CREDIT Center, Mr. Yuzhong Yan has successfully defended his MS Thesis titled “A Template-based Seismic Data Analytics Cloud Platform” and he received MS degree in December 2015. Because of his outstanding performance, Mr. Yan was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year 2015 in the College of Engineering at PVAMU.

Established partnership with National Science Foundation (NSF) CREST Center for Complex Network at Texas Southern University (TSU).
Initialized the effort for PVAMU joining the National Science Foundation’s South Big Data Regional Innovation Hub. Dr. Qian serves as PVAMU’s organizational representative for the big data hub, where PVAMU will be a partner university.
Two of our students, Mr. Samuel Bamgbose and Ms. Ashley Kelsey, won the Best Research Award (first place in Physical Science and first place in Computer Science, respectively) during the graduate student research competition of the 12th Annual Pathways Student Research Symposium of the Texas A&M University System in Corpus Christi, Texas, on October 23, 2015.
